The party submitted the motion of no confidence in June, claiming that he refused to provide specifics about the scam allegations levelled against him. Gwamanda has refuted the accusations.

Gwamanda is accused of leading a Ponzi scheme that deceived inhabitants of Soweto. He is also accused of illegally operating as a financial service provider through his funeral home, Ithemba Lama Afrika.

Gwamanda cannot be trusted with the City’s R80.9 billion, according to ActionSA, because of the multiple financial offences he is accused of. The party stated that he is not an ethical leader. The motion is expected to be heard next week on Tuesday or Thursday.
