2 confirmed dead in Soliat Corner accident

Two people, among them a minor, have been confirmed dead in an accident that happened on Sunday at Soliat Corner, Soko Huru along the Kisumu-Kericho Highway involving a lorry.

In a statement, the National Police Service (NPS) said that the driver of the lorry lost control and rammed into a residential building, damaging it completely.

“At about 1020 hours, the unknown driver was driving the said motor vehicle from Kericho general direction towards Kisumu and on reaching the scene of the accident, the driver lost control of the vehicle, veered off the road to the left and hit a residential plot damaging it completely,” NPS stated.

“A girl aged 10 years (name withheld) who was inside the building died on the spot together with the unknown driver.”

A woman aged 30 and a one-year-old were seriously injured and are currently admitted to Kericho Level 5 Hospital.

The vehicle is still at the scene waiting offloading and towing to the police station.
