New Year’s Eve is fast approaching and so are the associated festivities. The residents of Noida are gearing up for the celebrations, and many are planning to host house parties. However, there is one key aspect to consider if you’re among those planning a soiree – rules pertaining to liquor licenses.

With the festive season in full swing, the spirit of merriment is pervasive. Christmas and New Year’s Eve are the perfect occasions for people to let their hair down and party. That being said, if you are planning on hosting a party in your home or a community hall in Noida or Greater Noida where alcohol will be served, it is mandatory for you to obtain an occasional bar license. This measure is to prevent potential legal repercussions. This rule applies to every household hosting a social gathering where alcohol will be served.

The District Excise Officer of Gautam Buddha Nagar, Mr Subodh Kumar Srivastava, has shed light on this matter. He conveyed to PTI that serving alcohol at home parties without a valid liquor license is a breach of the law. Such an offence can lead to legal actions including penalties and possibly arrests. The authorities have now taken the initiative to educate the public about these excise-related rules. They are reaching out to the Residents Welfare Associations and citizens, encouraging them to procure the temporary bar licenses required for their parties.

Delving further, one can see that the issuance of these occasional licenses falls under two categories. The category a host falls under depends on the size of the gathering planned. For smaller gatherings, such as house parties, a license can be procured for a fee of Rs 4000. However, for larger gatherings, a fee of Rs 10000 is applicable. These licenses are valid for a single day.
