The one and only Eva Modika is known for slaying, partying and Brazilian b*tt lift. Influencer and reality TV star now adds Afrohouse, Electro and Afrotech DJ to her title. The controversial star told the media that she took DJ classes years ago to learn the craft behind the scenes, but now she’s ready to share the hard work.
She previously made sparring headlines and has publicly stated that she was one of the first women in South Africa to promote the BBL. She excels as a DJ and lives an honest life. Eva revealed that she won’t be changing her name.
“I put a lot of effort into building my name and it makes sense to keep it as my DJ name,” she said.
Eva joins a growing line-up of female DJs including Cyan Boujee, TxC, Uncle Waffles and more.
“I want to bring artistry, uniqueness and ‘Somandla’ to the industry, I want to empower young women and let them know that you can do it too, the sky’s the limit,” she said.
“I know everyone is interested and wondering what kind of genre I’m going to play, right? I decided to go a different route, everyone is on the Amapiano bandwagon. I like to be different, so I chose Afrohouse, Electro and Afrotech,” she added.
Eva spent years learning how to DJ behind the scenes.
“It takes years of practice. I have thought about going public, but I am afraid to take the step. See how female DJs are criticized every day. I want to take my time and train until I’m ready.”
Her first booking was at the Durban July, but at the rich Durban marquee, but she had to turn it down as she was going on holiday to Portugal.
The star told the media that more pre-orders are coming, and this is just the beginning. She also said she’s been labelled a “slay queen” and she wants to share her passion for music with the rest of the world to show that she isn’t just a pretty face.
Eva took a different path that no one was anticipating. She is going to become an inspiration to many young people out there. She is the living example that you can turn your life around and amaze so many people. If ladies like DJ Zinhle, Lady Du, Uncle Waffles and Thuli Phongolo among others, can do it Eva Modika can do it too and obtain many accolades under her name.
