Elon Musk, founder and CEO of X, formerly Twitter, has accused EFF leader Julius Malema of inciting white genocide in South Africa.

Musk blasted Malema for yelling “Kill the Boer” at the party’s 10th anniversary gathering at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg on Monday evening.

He also questioned President Cyril Ramaphosa’s inaction.

After a High Court ruling dismissed AfriForum’s case that Malema incited violence and hate speech by singing the controversial song, the EFF released a statement in August 2022 to address the outrage.b2cf26fe16ce4887ac8d4f170754bdcb?quality=uhq&resize=720

AfriForum sued Malema in the Equality Court in 2020 to declare the song hate speech and unfair discrimination.

“In a landmark judgment, the court ruled today that AfriForum failed to show that the song’s lyrics contravene the Equality Act or demonstrate a clear intention to harm or incite,” the EFF said. b51e1d4e6a034f2f855f3f86909895f7?quality=uhq&resize=720The court also concluded that the song should be preserved under free speech and left to political debate.

The court found that designating the song hate speech would limit free speech. The court ruled that the song is not hate speech and ordered AfriForum to pay legal fees.”

X users have defended Malema, criticizing Musk for denouncing struggle songs.

Sinawo Thambo released a video of the late political activist Peter Mokaba chanting the song and explaining its meaning.

Malema and Mokaba sing Kill the Boer in the video, with Mokaba explaining the song’s meaning and the word “boer”.

Mokaba says:

Our policy and situation have modified the “boer” question. The enemy has always been white supremacy, not a person.

“Even as we screamed these slogans throughout the armed struggle, they never pushed us to the houses of the whites or farmers as farmers, as persons, to kill them. What changed?”9673597ba6dd406ba38816763525f52f?quality=uhq&resize=720

Godrich Gardee, EFF head of international relations, also accused Musk of rewriting history.

He wrote: “You know that it is a heritage liberation struggle song as old as the fight against white supremacy and the racist apartheid government of whites pre-1994. You are a revisionist who distorts history to maintain white economic dominance over Africans!”
