It is believed that Fikile Mbalula faced strong criticism within the ANC and had to retract his words. Critics said it is clear that Pravin is the most feared minister. Mbalula left many surprised after changing his tune.

“Comrade Pravin, we don’t have to move you as you are working with speed. Comrades I will speak diligently on our ministers, but those who are sleeping on the job we are watching them. The ANC is in charge,” said Mbalula.

Fikile Mbalula also took the opportunity to address speculations that have been going around that he, and president Cyril Ramaphosa are not in good books. The ANC secretary general said ANC is in charge not an individual.

“The centre in this country is the ANC. Who is in charge? Is it Ramaphosa or Mbalula? The ANC is in charge, that’s what is important,” he said as he was addressing the ANC veterans league third national congress in Birchwood hotel. He says party deployees must work hard.

ANC leadership was slammed by Economic Freedom Fighters leader, Julius Malema who said they are now doing all sorts of things out of desperation to save their party ahead of 2024 national elections.

“Panyaza is doing what he has to do because he can see that the ANC is in danger. He is trying to save it. That is an act of desperation – and it is not just an act of desperation, but also humiliation,” Julius Malema said.
