REVEALED: OJ Simpson’s official cause of death

OJ Simpson’s official cause of death has been revealed.

The 76-year-old died earlier this month of prostate cancer, his longtime attorney Malcolm Lavergne said TMZ.

Simpson had revealed that he was receiving treatment for cancer before his death, but did not say which one.

Despite denying that he had been in a hospice before his death, it emerged that he was released from such a facility just days before his death.

The infamous double murder suspect, who was found civilly liable for the deaths of his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman after being acquitted in criminal court in 1995, died at his Las Vegas home.

Simpson became one of the most infamous figures in America after he was accused of the 1994 murders.

The disgraced football star’s death was announced on his X account on April 11.

His family said: “On April 10, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer.

‘He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace. – The Simpson family.’

Goldman’s father said Simpson’s death is just a reminder of the pain his family has suffered over the years.

“All I have to say today is that this is a further reminder of the loss of my son Ron,” Fred Goldman told DailyMail.com.

“It’s a further reminder of my son’s murder and a reminder of the many years we missed Ron.”

Simpson, a former football player who played 11 seasons mostly with the Buffalo Bills, reinvented himself as an actor before the murders of Brown and Goldman.

Although acquitted of the murders, his reputation was forever tarnished and the latter part of his career was marked by a series of shady ventures.

After he was acquitted, Simpson was found civilly liable for the murders and was later forced to pay out $33.5 million in damages to the victims’ families.

He faced further legal trouble when he was sentenced to a maximum of 33 years behind bars in 2008 for an armed robbery in Nevada.

His death comes two months after it was reported he was battling cancer and undergoing chemotherapy.

Simpson looked weak several times earlier this year while walking around his Las Vegas neighborhood.

But in February, he released a video reassuring fans about his health and stating that he was looking forward to the Super Bowl.

Despite a successful NFL career, Simpson was best known for his acquittal following his high-profile murder trial in 1995, dubbed the “Trial of the Century.”

He was charged in the deaths of Brown and Goldman, who were found brutally stabbed to death outside her Los Angeles home.

The circumstances surrounding his arrest were equally outrageous, with the former NFL star leading police on a slow chase after learning of the impending charges.

Millions watched the 90-minute chase of Simpson’s white Ford Bronco through Southern California.

The athlete crouched in the back with a gun while friend Al Cowlings drove, before he was eventually arrested in Brentwood.

During the trial, prosecutors argued that Simpson was linked to the crime scene through forensic evidence.

In a now infamous moment, Simpson struggled to fit a pair of black gloves believed to have been worn by the killer. One glove was found at the scene, the other near Simpson’s mansion.

Prosecutors said the accused killer acted out of jealousy toward his then-ex-wife.
