The ruling party had another opportunity a few days ago to prove that they still have everything under control and they did not fail to disappoint some of their supporters.
There were obviously a lot of people who expected that the ANC would find it difficult to resonate with the public. This is the only period for the president to address the masses of ANC supporters who were ignored by the government since the start of the year.
This whole process keeps on repeating itself and there was interest to see how people would respond to this. And we got the sense of what is happening on the ground, the ANC was in Soweto at the Dobsonville stadium for the 2019 Manifesto review.
While they were there, something unexpected happened, there were suddenly strong winds and the president had to deliver the speech.
At some point during the strong winds, the security started moving towards Ramaphosa but he instructed them to move back. Now, there is an iconic speech that was delivered by the EFF leader Julius Malema during Mama Winnie Mandela’s memorial service.
In the speech, Malema asked the late struggle icon to give them the signal to know what needs to be done, moving forward.
The phrase has been used a lot on social media and one person brought it up again when the video of Ramaphosa started making rounds on X. People saw the video where the president is delivering a speech while there was strong wind.
One person tagged Malema on X and asked him in a tweet if what was happening during Ramaphosa’s speech was a signal. This was obviously a joke and more people were just making fun of what happened to Ramaphosa.
