ANC comrade in Kwa-Zulu Natal province, Nathi Sithole has argued that Bathabile Dlamini has been betrayed by women she built the party’s league with.

This comes after two factions have emerged from Kwa-Zulu Natal province that want to contest at the conference. The other faction is led by Bathabile Dlamini, while the other one is being led by Thembeka Mchunu. It is feared that this will see delegates being divided on who they should vote for presidency.

“Bathabile has been betrayed by women she built the ANC Women’s League with, the ones she has been on the ground with, she is now left with young women she has groomed, they are clear when it comes to her,” said Nathi Sithole.

ANC secretary general, Fikile Mbalula who gave a speech at the conference, took swipe at the factions of the Women’s league. Mbalula said it was not right that some groups took pictures with party President Cyril Ramaphosa ahead of the ANC Women’s League conference. They then shared the photos on social media.

It is alleged that a faction that is supporting Mchunu who is contesting Bathabile Dlamini for presidency went sometime to meet Ramaphosa, and they took photos. Another grouping also followed suit.

The ANC secretary said this is not right, and slammed the ANC Women’s League comrades for doing so. He was giving a speech at the conference happening at Nasrec to elect new leadership for the women’s league.

“We are not going to tell women what to do, women must decide their own destination. I see that you have slates but it’s not ugly. There is nothing wrong to differ, but don’t differ like hooligans,” said Fikile Mbalula.

It is alleged that there are talks about Bathabile Dlamini’s slate uniting with the other one in Kwa-Zulu Natal province. It is feared that if they go to the voting process while divided, Kwa-Zulu Natal province may not be able to get representation in the league.
