Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has urged his political opponents to allow him to enjoy his retirement in peace. Speaking to the press in a candid interview, Uhuru said that for the last 10 years when he was the head of the state, he never had the privilege of going for holiday.

He urged those who are starting a political war with him to allow him bond with his family and enjoy his retirement. ”I have never taken a holiday for the past ten years,” he said.

Uhuru further said that he wants to pursue other passions other than politics. He is passionate about brokering peace efforts in the Horn of Africa and supervising elections on the continent.

He is currently concentrating on peace efforts in Ethiopia, South Sudan and the DRC. He believes that Africa’s stability depends on the unity of its people.

However, Uhuru said that he will not just sit and watch as coup plotters take over his Jubilee Party. He had planned to leave politics but some people who want to take over Jubilee party by force are provoking him.

“I had planned to leave the leadership to other people including my role as the Azimio council chairman but I can’t leave the party to coup plotters,” he said.
