Few days ago, the salaries and renumeration commission of Kenya announced that they will increase the salaries of civil servants in the country.
It was proposed that President William Ruto, his deputy hon Rigathi Gachagua, members of the national assembly and their counterparts from the national senate were also going to get an increament in their payslips.
Teachers, members of the Kenya defense forces, Kenya police service were to get upto to 10 percent of the salary increase in order to cope with the high cost of living.
This increments were to start in the month of July but president William Ruto halted that of the top civil servants for a while.
Senior counsel Ahmed Nassir Abdulahi has spoken about the matter and advised president William Ruto and his deputy hon Rigathi Gachagua if they are philanthropic enough.
First of all, lawyer Ahmed Nassir says that the president and his deputy have no powers to countermand the salaries and renumeration commission on what to do in matters of salaries.
This is because this is an independent constitutional body that has the mandate of fixing the salaries for all the civil servants in the country.
He has advised the head of state and the deputy to give the increament to charity works.
