Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga on Saturday toured Kakamega county where he attended a burial ceremony of the former chair of COTU Rajab Mwondi. Raila Odinga was accompanied by his close allies from the Azimio la Umoja coalition including former Defense CS Hon Eugene Wamalwa among other leaders.
COTU Secretary General Hon Francis Atwoli was also among the leaders who attended the burial ceremony of Rajab Mwondi. While addressing the event, Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga responded to President William Samoei Ruto’s recent declaration on the people engaged in graft, especially in the Sugar sector.
The former Prime Minister hit out at President William Samoei Ruto telling him to stop threatening people in Western Kenya. Raila said that Ruto should not threaten individuals saying that they should leave Kenya or go to jail.
Raila said that such utterances are reckless. He also said that Kenya does not belong to a particular individual but to everyone. He dismissed Ruto’s stance urging Kenyans to remain firm.
” Sugar issues, Industries have collapsed and no one should come here threatening others that they should leave Kenya or go to jail. What kind of talk is that, has Kenya become their property?” Raila asked.
This comes after President William Samoei Ruto issued an ultimatum to cartels who have allegedly stalled Mumias Suga Company. Ruto told them to withdraw the cases they had filed in court and exit the company.
Ruto said that if they don’t listen and adhere to his demands, they will have to go to exile, jail, or be promoted to heaven
