Sources Reveal How Ruto Disagreed With KK MPs Who Wanted Govt To Hit Back At Opposition Team

The Nation in their weekly reports now reveals details of crisis meeting that brought together all the lawmakers from the ruling alliance at State House on Saturday.

The paper reports that the meeting was called by National Assembly Majority Chief Whip Sylvanus Osoro and was chaired by President William Ruto.

The paper also reports that in the meeting, the ruling alliance looked at possible ways to counter the opposition’s protests that is set to resume next week.

Insiders who were present at the meeting revealed that there were different opinions on how to handle the opposition protests that is gaining momentum, but they all agreed that leaders from the ruling alliance would return back to their areas of jurisdictions and explain to their people the plans of the government.

While speaking to Nation after the meeting, Nyaribari Chache Member of Parliament Zaheer said that there were some lawmakers who opined that the government should hit back at opposition.

The idea was opposed by Dr Ruto who reportedly said that he was not for confrontation. Ruto is said to have added that he believed in the rule of law and wanted it to prevail even if the opposition were not following it.

“A number of MPs raised concerns about the state of affairs of the country. There are those who were of the view that we hit back but Ruto said he is not for confrontation. He added that he believes in the rule of law. The president said that the law should prevail of even if the opposition does not want to follow it.” Nyaribari Chache MP Zaheer Jhanda.
