Azimio One Kenya leader Raila Odinga has received a call from the Kenya Kwanza camp, inviting his troops for talks just a day after holding a rally in Nairobi.
Kenya Kwanza Majority Member of Parliament Kimani Ichungwah says that Raila should reconsider the call for protests and instead focus on bipartisan dialogue.
The Kikuyu MP alleged that Raila’s street demonstrations have never been peaceful and would only cause chaos among Kenyans.
The Majority leader in the National Assembly, Kimani Ichung’wah, criticized Odinga for withdrawing from the bipartisan talks, urging him to be a patriot and give peace another chance.
Earlier, Azimio’s second in command, Martha Karua, stated that President Ruto’s regime will remain illegitimate until the truth is revealed to Kenyans.
She accused the Kenya Kwanza government of being determined to push Kenyans below the poverty line through its draconian policies in the financial bill.
The call for protests has been led by the Azimio leader in Nairobi for the past month, with other leaders also participating in demonstrations in their respective counties.
Even as Mr. Odinga maintains that the freedom to hold protests was provided in the 2010 Constitution, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki warned him against organizing protests, suggesting that he should instead seek recourse through the court or parliament.
