Until just recently, Kakai Bisau was ICT and infrastructure advisor to the then Deputy President William Ruto. But today, he is an MP having been electee on opposition Azimio la Umoja coalition.
In the run up to the 2022 general election, it all appeared that Bisau would run for the Kiminini MP seat in on Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance party ticket. But he had different ideas.
At the time no one had expected it, he hastily resigned from being Ruto’s advisor and plunged into the murky world of politics. But his choice of the party baffled many as he joined the Democratic Action Party led by the then Defence Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa. The outfit is affiliated to Azimio la Umoja coalition which is led by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Though very few people gave him a chance to triumph, Bisau pulled a shocker when he easily clinched the Kiminini MP seat and succeed Dr Chris Wamalwa.
A former UN-Refugee agency officer, the ex-Ruto aide is one of the few DAP-K MPs in the country. His decision to ditch his boss, Ruto, was a political masterstroke. It was genius. That is why he is now a legislator.
