Speaking in Nyeri County, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua stated that the President has sent him to Colombia. He disclosed that he is going to expose the cartels in the tea, coffee and milk industry in Colombia.
He went further and asserted that he will convince the Colombians to come and take the raw materials directly from the farmers because the money that comes from Colombia does not reach the farmers since the cartels are the ones running the business.
Gachagua further promised milk farmers that the President will put a mechanism to ensure that a litre of milk costs Ksh 50.
“The President has sent me to Colombia to look for a coffee market. I want to go and sit with these Whites and tell them that the money they are paying is not reaching here. They should accept to come and take coffee directly from the farmers,” said the Deputy President.
“Here in Kieni, people are milk farmers. The President has arranged to ensure that the minimum charge of milk per litre is Ksh 50 and above,” he stated.
