“Kisii Has a Special Attachment to Your Presidency” ODM’s Richard Onyonka Tells President Ruto

Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka has assured President William Ruto that the leaders and residents of his county and the Gusii Region at large would support his presidency.

Speaking on Thursday when the president met Nyamira, Kisii and Migori leaders at Kakamega State Lodge, Onyonka claimed that the Kisii County has a special attachment to Ruto’s government, and they will continue supporting him.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Senator implored upon the president to also support especially the young leaders in the county.

“These people want you to support them because they have made it clear that they will support you unconditionally. Many of the people you see here have very bright future in politics, I would want to hope as our politics is going on, we behave ourselves and support the government and the presidency in delivering for us in Kisii.”

“Your Excellency, Kisii has a very passionate attachment to your presidency and I think the people of Kisii are ready to receive you, work for you and are also ready to make sure your presidency is a success,” said Onyonka.

Speaking at the same meeting, Kisii Governor Simba Arati reaffirmed that his county government will work with the national government, assuring President Ruto that all the leaders in Kisii County will work together irrespective of their political parties.

The president who was in Kakamega for the Western Region working tour has previously toured Nyamira and Kisii Counties to launch a number of projects.

For years, the Western and Gusii regions have been considered as the strongholds of the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, and political commentators now claim that Ruto is aimed at widening his support base ahead of the 2027 polls.
