According to the petitioner Bob Ndolo, the Chinese social media platform should be banned in the country because it promotes violence and and sharing of sexual content.

He argues that the platform that has gained popularity among the young people will most likely make them fail in exams because of its addictive nature.

“The petition decries that while it has gained popularity among the youths in Kenya, the content that is being shared on the platform is inappropriate thus promoting violence, explicit sexual content, hate speech, vulgar language, and offensive behavior which is a serious threat to the cultural and religious views of Kenya,” Wetangula said on Tuesday”, said wetangula.

However, some kenyans who reacted online opined that even Twitter then should be banned because it too promotes sexual content.

Others however said the platform should not be banned but instead let children be taught morals.

Below are the reactions online.

Motherland:We have porn here on Twitter should we ban it? C’mon stop arguing with emotions kumbuka TikTok algorithms are you’re desires. Buana kuna watu tuko KAZI.

Justice: Lord Justice Herod AKA Wetangula, don’t be misled. Let’s embrace the future as it is. The church should teach morality with vigour and heart to win the confidence of the faithfuls. TikTok has no evil in it,users have evil in them.read the Bible guys, not what Terrorists read.
