Government Declares The Return Of Curfew in This County Today

Today, reports have emerged a return of dusk to dawn curfew in one of the coastal counties over what has been termed as insecurity threats in the area.

As reported by the Citizen TV, the goverment through the county commissioner of lamu county Mr Luis Rono has announced this curfew in various parts of lamu west constituency. Rono said that recent Al-shabaab attacks has forced the goverment to introduce curfew. The county commissioner also ordered immediate closure of illegal bars in the area saying that they are breeding grounds for these terrorists. He also urged the people who have been displaced by terrorists to go back to their homes and engage themselves on development activities. He promised the people of lamu county that the government is going to do everything possible to restore peace in the area.

“Lamu County Commissioner, Luis Rono, has imposed a curfew in several villages within the Lamu West sub county following recent attacks by suspected Al-Shabab militia.The affected areas include Juhudi, Marafa, Salama, Widho, Bobo, Kwasasi area in Mkunumbi, and Hindi ward areas.” Said the reports.

His announcment is coming in just some few days after police officers managed to kill over 20 Al-shabaab fighters in North Eastern following a fierce gunfire. This fight left 9 police officers with minor injuries.
