Gachagua Tells Kenyans in Italy Raila is Trying to Sell Fear to Ruto Regime, Affirms No Dialogue

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is in attendance of a significant UN Summit aimed at addressing various initiatives to transform and ensure food security systems. The summit brought together global leaders to discuss strategies for combating hunger and enhancing agricultural sustainability.

Gachagua actively participated in the discussions, highlighting Kenya’s commitment to tackling food security challenges and supporting international efforts in this regard.

Following the UN Summit short break, Deputy President Gachagua had the opportunity to engage with the Kenyan community in Italy during a special event.

During his address, Gachagua touched on both national and political matters. He expressed his concern about the opposition leader, Raila Odinga, and his approach towards the government. Gachagua accused Odinga of attempting to influence the government through fear and blackmail by inciting demonstrations.

In his speech, Gachagua took a dig at Odinga by referencing past instances where he allegedly used similar tactics to gain political power. He mentioned the 1997 elections, where Odinga was believed to have employed blackmail against the then-incumbent President Daniel Arap Moi. Additionally, Gachagua referred to the 2007 elections, in which Odinga was involved in contentious disputes with former President Mwai Kibaki, and the 2018 elections, where he contested the legitimacy of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s victory.

The Deputy President asserted that the Kenya Kwanza government, of which he is a part, would not be swayed by fear-driven tactics, such as demonstrations and blackmail. He emphasized that cooperating with someone using such methods would be tantamount to supporting criminal behavior.

Moreover, Deputy President Gachagua criticized religious leaders who suggested engaging in dialogue with the opposition. He argued that entertaining talks with Raila Odinga, given his alleged history of using fear and blackmail, would be counterproductive and against the principles of a government committed to law and order.
