Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has called upon the Kamba community to reconsider their support for former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in electoral contexts, citing concerns over his advanced age, perceived lack of organizational skills, and alleged confusion.
Addressing the gathering in Mwala, Machakos County, during his attendance at the funeral of the local Member of Parliament’s mother, the deputy president reiterated his stance that Raila had not made significant contributions towards the improvement of the Kamba region, despite receiving votes from its residents. Consequently, he urged the community to refrain from supporting Raila.
Gachagua also referred to Raila Odinga as a political manipulator who has been using his followers for personal financial gain.
During a clandestine meeting with President William Ruto, the deputy leader additionally asserted that Raila Odinga requested an unspecified sum of money as a condition to cease the demonstrations against the government.
According to Gachagua, the ongoing bipartisan negotiations between the opposition and the administration are unlikely to produce any fruitful outcomes due to the self-serving motives of certain lawmakers involved.
