A Court in Nairobi has suspended the decision by the Government to revoke the gun licenses belonging to ex-president Uhuru Kenyatta’s son John Jomo Kenyatta.
Justice Jairus Ngaah has instructed, John Jomo and the state to file their written submissions within the next seven days of being served, since the matter will be heard and determined through written submissions.
Jomo’s application had been certified as urgent before the Milimani Law Courts, where he asked the court to intervene and bar the state from annulling his firearms license, he stated that the process the state used contravened the Constitution.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Professor Kindiki Kithure said a total of 23 firearms were retrieved from three homes in Karen, Nairobi, following a sting operation undertaken by detectives in Nairobi after finding out that weapons used by criminals during the Anti-Government demonstrations were allegedly supplied by civilian licensed gun holders.
Former President and Jomo’s father His Excellency Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta recently revealed that his two sons each own three guns.
The matter will be heard on 27th of September.
