Embakasi MP Babu Owino is awaiting the verdict in a case where he has been accused of misusing his firearm in connection with the shooting of DJ Evolve in the Nairobi Kilimani area.
The court is expected to announce its decision today. Despite denying any wrongdoing, Babu Owino was put on his defense by senior principal magistrate Bernard Ochoi in March after ruling that there was a case to answer.
Since then, several prosecution witnesses have retracted their statements, and even police officers involved in the investigation have stated that they were unable to establish a direct link between Babu Owino’s gun and the bullet that injured DJ Evolve.
In his defense, Babu Owino informed the court that he had spent a total of Sh58.6 million to cover DJ Evolve’s medical expenses and provide for his general well-being.
The outcome of this case will determine whether Babu Owino will be found guilty or acquitted of the charges against him.
