Cabramatta Road, Sydney drive-by shooting: Police launch urgent search for gunman

Police are hunting a gunman after he opened fire on a house containing nine people, including four children.

Emergency services rushed to a house on Cabramatta Road in Cabramatta, in Sydney’s south-west, shortly before 11.45pm after reports the house was peppered with bullets.

The gunman, who was in a white Toyota Corolla parked on the sidewalk outside the house, opened fire before fleeing the scene.

Five adults and four children who were in the home were unharmed.

Police launched an investigation into the incident and declared the house a crime scene.

A white Corolla was later found on fire in the neighboring suburb of Mount Pritchard.

The fire brigade extinguished the fire, but the car was destroyed.

Investigators have confirmed that the Corolla was the same vehicle involved in the shooting and is subject to forensic examination.

Police are asking anyone with information or CCTV or dashcam footage to contact police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
