Parent Blames Brookhurst International School Over Daughter’s Alleged Unfair Expulsion

Our news desk has received a message from an upset parent which illuminates the disciplinary actions undertaken by Brookhurst International School subsequent to a viral video incident.

The parent’s daughter, a 16-year-old student in Year 12 at Brookhurst International School, was accused of reposting a video depicting a fight that occurred weeks ago.

Despite her non-participation in the altercation, the parent claims that her daughter was unfairly targeted due to her substantial online following.

“While we acknowledge that sharing the video was in poor judgment,” the parent states, “we also feel like the punishment was too severe.”

According to the parent, her daughter was expelled from the school, whereas the students responsible for capturing the video faced suspensions ranging from 5 to 20 days.

The parent’s worries are compounded by what she terms as constraints on communication between students and their parents.

“Students are prohibited from speaking to anyone, including their parents,” she told us.

She also pointed out the restrictions on the parents WhatsApp group, which prevent members from commenting and lead to the removal of specific messages.

“We’ve been gagged,” she says.

As a response to these challenges, the parent and her daughter have opted to change schools, particularly because her daughter is set to sit critical A-level examinations scheduled to commence next week.

Despite this change, she continues to demand a comprehensive investigation to ensure fairness and accountability within the school’s administration.

We will keep monitoring developments in this story.
