Potential insights into Biden family business activities as Committee investigates fake name use
The main focus of the House Oversight Committee’s request centers around Hunter Biden’s role on the board of the Ukrainian gas company Burisma, where he earned $1 million annually. He joined the company in 2014, around the time his father took charge of the Obama administration’s approach to Ukraine, NY Post reported.
Republicans are seeking records revealing Joe Biden’s use of pseudonyms to discuss his activities related to Ukraine with his son Hunter during his time as vice president.
They specifically want an un-redacted document that indicates that then-Vice President Biden took a call with the president of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, on May 27, 2016.
Chairperson Comer’s recent appeal involves records where Biden might have used other fake names like “Robin Ware” and “JRB Ware.” The request also specifically asks for particular documents, such as the preliminary versions of Biden’s speech to Ukraine’s parliament in December 2015.
“Joe Biden has stated there was ‘an absolute wall’ between his family’s foreign business schemes and his duties as Vice President, but evidence reveals that access was wide open for his family’s influence peddling,” Comer (R-Ky.) said in a statement.
“We already have evidence of then-Vice President Biden speaking, dining, and having coffee with his son’s foreign business associates,” Comer added.
Joe Biden used various private email addresses from which he would sometimes send, receive and forward government correspondence according to emails found on Hunter Biden’s now-infamous laptop.
‘Robin Ware,’ ‘Robert L. Peters’ and ‘JRB ware’ were three pseudonyms used on emails that were about both official and family business.
The Republicans seek ‘any document or communication’ that includes Robert Peters, Robin Ware, and JRB Ware as senders or recipients.
They also demand communications between Hunter Biden and his business partners Devon Archer and Eric Schwerin.
Chairman James Comer of the House Oversight Committee sent a letter obtained by DailyMail.com to the Archivist of the United States Colleen Shogan Thursday asking for ‘unrestricted special access’ to ‘Email Messages To and/or From Vice President Biden and Hunter Biden related to Burisma and Ukraine.’
Comer also asks for ‘all drafts’ of then-VP Biden’s speech that he delivered to the Ukrainian Rada on December 9, 2015. During the speech, Biden touted his anti-corruption efforts in the country and urged an overhaul and reform of the office of the general prosecutor.
Emails that were made public earlier by the Archives and obtained from Hunter’s laptop left behind, show that Joe Biden used the email address “[email protected]” during his time as Vice President under President Barack Obama. In some of these emails, his assistant John Flynn included Hunter in the conversation, sending him 10 emails that included Joe Biden’s daily agenda from May 18 to June 15, 2016.
President Biden used a pseudonym, Robert L. Peters, when emailing his son’s business associates including using it to schedule secret calls with the president of Ukraine.
