Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Journalist Henry Olonga confirms cricketer, Heath Streak, is alive and death report is fake.
Between 1993 and 2005, Streak represented his nation in 189 One-Day Internationals and 65 Tests, taking more than 450 wickets. Streak was renowned for his remarkable all-around abilities as a fast-medium bowler and an effective lower-order batsman. He was the first Zimbabwean bowler to claim 100 wickets in ODIs.
Henry Olonga is one of the people who posted about Heath Streak’s death, media houses saw his tweet and ran with it , he deleted his tweet never apologised for the misinformation he was spreading, and confirmed Heath is alive, you have access to the family but you ran to twitter.
Quashing the Heath Streak’s death rumours, Olonga took to X (formerly called Twitter), and shared a screenshot of his WhatsApp chat with Streak. “I can confirm that rumours of the demise of Heath Streak have been greatly exaggerated. I just heard from him. The third umpire has called him back. He is very much alive folks,” Olonga posted on his X handle.

The cricket world collectively mourned the loss of Streak earlier on Wednesday, but a post on X, the social platform formerly known as Twitter, proved he was still with us.
In 2021, Streak was dealt an eight-year ban after being charged with five breaches of the ICC’s anti-corruption code. Earlier this year, he revealed he was undergoing treatment for cancer.
“Heath has cancer and is undergoing treatment under one of the most respected oncologists in South Africa,” his family said in a statement at the time.
“He remains in good spirits and will continue to fight this disease in a similar vein to that which his opponents faced during his revered days on the cricket field.”
Streak is one of Zimbabwe’s most celebrated sporting figures throughout the 1990s and early 2000s. He represented Zimbabwe in 65 Tests and 189 ODIs, scoring 4933 runs and taking 455 wickets for his country.
After retiring in 2005, he served in coaching roles for several teams at domestic and international level, including Bangladesh, Zimbabwe and the Kolkata Knight Riders.
“Sad news coming through that Heath Streak has crossed to the other side. RIP @ZimCricketv legend. The greatest all-rounder we produced. It was a pleasure playing with you. See you on the other side when my bowling spell comes to an end”, Olonga said.
