Zimbabwean Prominent Politician Receives Warm Welcome in South Africa

The upcoming Zimbabwean presidential election in August is set to be highly contested, with eleven candidates vying for the country’s top leadership position, according to the electoral commission. The announcement comes after several hopefuls were disqualified for failing to meet the $20,000 requirement needed to secure a spot on the ballot.

The exclusion of some candidates due to financial constraints indicates that the upcoming election will be challenging and competitive for those in the running. Complicating matters further, a significant number of Zimbabweans currently reside outside of the country, particularly in nations like South Africa.

In a bid to garner support and engage with the Zimbabwean diaspora, Nelson Chamisa, leader of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), embarked on a visit to the Republic of South Africa. Chamisa’s objective was to recruit new members and rally support ahead of the crucial elections in Zimbabwe.
