A lecturer at Nelson Mandela University, Ongama Mtimka says that without bias, Busisiwe Mkhwebane needs to explain some certain things about the death of Tina Joemat-Pettersson. He noted that the statement made by Busisiwe Mkhwebane that Tina Joemat-Pettersson could have been alive is a deep statement that needs clarification. The University don said that Busisiwe Mkhwebane should explain if Tina Joemat-Pettersson confided in her before her death, or revealed to her if she was being threatened. Dr Ongama tweeted, “The way Adv Mkhwebane spoke about how preventable TJP’s death was had she not been ‘failed by the state’ suggests that she needs to explain what she meant? Did TJP inform her/husband that her life was under threat, or perhaps she’d take her own life?”. All these speculations started pouring in after it was reported that the police had ruled the death of Tina Joemat-Pettersson as unnatural.
Dr Ongama Mtimka who lectures at the department of history and political studies in Nelson Mandela University further disclosed that while listening to Busisiwe Mkhwebane’s presser he was, “Feeling a bit appalled and emotional at what I saw as inhumane in this interview, I argued that Mkhwebane was exploiting the death situation more so when the family didn’t suggest that she’d taken her own life or there was no evidence of foul play in the public domain. Adv Mkhwebane presser proves how incompetent Mkhwebane is when it comes to understanding what nature of facts she has, and what those facts mean in terms of things that are under way”. The University scholar also hinted, “Now that this information is coming to light her position makes sense, but the question is: What did she know and how, because it seems the process is under way? Was there a disclosure, perhaps by Tina Joemat-Pettersson herself?”.
