The multi-talented actor, poet, motivational speaker and musician Thabo Mkhabela, continues to raise the bar in the entertainment industry. To many of his fans Thabo has been consumed by Leshole, after his charector of Leshole Mabitsela on Skeem Saam, but that is about to change according to the actor. Thabo believes his music stage name “Penner”, will take over Leshole, as he has a lot of music to offer to his fans.
Earlier this month he took to his Instagram page to officially introduce Penner to South Africans saying “Hello beautiful, officially meet my other half, Penner. Penner is a South African spoken word artist. At this moment, I would like to introduce to the masses this banger tittled “Blacksheep” by Penner, so family let’s tune and dance to this jam, let’s go. When I am behind the mic, it’s a worship!”
In Penner Thabo displays his music talent, mixing rap and poetry. The 31 year old artists has already released a single track titled ‘Blacksheep’, where he mostly sings about his life and upbringing. Thabo expect Penner to be the new brand in the music industry, he define Penner as “A wolf in a blacksheep fur, a top tier , a strong man fathered by hardship”. This might be something to do with his upbringing, as he was raised by a single mother who made sure his son is educated.
Thabo Mkhabela’s breakthrough in the industry came after he landed the role of Lesole Mabitsela. This came after he was recommended by fellow Skeem Saam Actor Putla Sehlapelo, who plays Meneer Magongwa. He never looked back after landing the role, he won the hearts of many fans when mastering the charector.
Although fans are missing Thabo on our screen as Leshole, he continues to work behind the scene in a much bigger role than being an actor. He has been promoted to casting director in Skeem Saam. This came as no surprise for the man who holds Bachelor of Arts in Performing Arts from the University of Limpopo.
