The interim leadership of the South African National Congress Organisation has poured cold water on those who are attempting to contest in the 2024 elections using their name.

There was a speculation that a certain faction of the civic organisation was attempting to approach the Independent Electoral Commission so they could put their names to contest for the 2024 elections.

South African National Congress Organisation interim leadership says it wants to be admitted back as a structure of the African National Congress, and they do not attempt to contest in elections themselves.

The civic organisation is made up of a large number of members who belong to the African National Congress, and it is impossible to separate the entity from the ruling party.

The interim national leadership of SANCO has asked the Independent Electoral Commission not to entertain the people who have filed an application with the electoral body to contest next year’s elections.

Mike Soko the interim national leader of the South African National Congress Organisation says these individuals have no standing in the civic organisation which is an alliance partner of the ANC.

He further stated that South African National Congress Organisation is an non-profit organisation, not a political party. It is not clear who are these individuals who had attempted to put up their names with an intention to contest in the 2024 national elections under the civic organisation.

The interim leadership of the civic organisation says its intention is to unite the factions so that they can progress well with one accord. Former president Jacob Zuma is part of this organisation as a convener which is also expected to hold its elective conference to elect national leadership.

Critics however, said these factions within the South African National Congress Organisation may not end soon, and those who want to contest in the elections are most likely not going to give up.
