Richard Dyantyi the preferred candidate in the ANC Western Cape Provincial chairperson did not meet the threshold during branch nominations, says a report from the conference venue. He was again nominated from the floor and he still did not meet the threshold. Furthermore, Jabu Mfusi was nominated from the floor for the chairperson position and accepted. He also did not meet threshold requirements, thus does not qualify. A surprise turn of events, Lerumo Kalako has declined the nomination for the chairperson position. This leaves Cameron Dugmore as the only nominee. Many people were banking on the candidacy of Richard Dyantyi because he was the suspected to be the preferred candidate of Mr Fikile Mbalula.
Subsequently, Athi Mtongana a journalist reported that, “Tyhalisisu has met the threshold after being nominated from the floor for the Chairperson of the ANC in the Western Cape. It’s now Tyhalisisu versus Cameron Dugmore”. NEC deployee Khusela Diko has officially dissolved the IPC. The electoral commission will now be given the platform to carry out nominations. The conference took a new twist after Richard Dyantyi a very popular candidate, failed to meet the threshold. Richard Dyantyi was fingered in the Busisiwe Mkhwebane’s controversy after he was said to have been mentioned by Tina Joemat-Pettersson. Even during the time he was delivering his address, Fikile Mbalula said that the baseless allegations against Richard Dyantyi is never enough to prevent or stop him from vying for a position at the ANC provincial conference.
