 South African President Cyril Ramaphosa addressed parliament on the release of former President Jacob Zuma, stressing that he and his government did not violate the Constitution or the law on the matter. Jacob Zuma’s release from prison has been the subject of considerable public debate and scrutiny.

President Ramaphosa’s comments are in response to concerns about the legal aspects of Zuma’s medical parole. Ramaphosa stressed that the decision to grant Zuma medical parole was made by the relevant judicial and medical authorities following due process and in accordance with national law.
