Malema fires members

In a surprising turn of events, Julius Malema, the leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), has taken a stern stance by recalling 210 public representatives within the party. This drastic measure comes in the aftermath of a transport debacle that unfolded during the EFF’s 10th birthday celebration.

Malema’s decision was prompted by the failure of 428 representatives to adhere to a directive issued in January. The directive required these representatives to arrange transportation for fellow party members attending the grand 10th-anniversary celebrations. However, the event was marred by a significant transportation shortage, leading to logistical chaos and frustration among attendees.

The EFF’s 10th birthday celebration was anticipated to be a momentous occasion, marking a decade of the party’s existence in the South African political landscape. Supporters and members from across the nation were expected to gather for a day of festivities, speeches, and reflection on the party’s achievements.

Unfortunately, the transportation arrangements proved to be inadequate, resulting in numerous attendees being left stranded or unable to reach the event venue. This debacle cast a shadow over what was meant to be a celebratory occasion, prompting swift action from the party’s leadership.

Julius Malema, known for his assertive leadership style, took immediate action by recalling 210 public representatives who were directly responsible for the transportation arrangements. This move sends a clear message that the EFF values accountability and expects its representatives to uphold the party’s directives and commitments.

The decision to recall these representatives is not without controversy. Some critics argue that such a drastic measure could weaken the party’s overall presence

MPs Phiwaba Madokwe and Vusi Khoza, along with Brenda Mathevula and Slindile Luthuli, who represent the party in the National Council of Provinces, were among the 210 public representatives, including MPs, MPLs, and councillors, who failed to organize and pay for buses to the 10th anniversary celebrations. In response, Julius Malema announced that these public representatives must resign from their positions with immediate effect.
