Alleged tensions between Zulu king Misuzulu kaZwelithini and Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi took a new twist this past week.
The plot thickened when Buthelezi issued a press statement saying that king Misuzulu had fallen ill and was admitted in hospital.
His allegations were vehemently denied by the kings spokesperson.
Buthelezi then hit out by saying that the kings spokesperson had sent him a WhatsApp message insulting him.
This raised more questions than answers with the general public suggesting that it was now evidently clear that tensions were simmering.
The king’s spokesperson Prince Africa Zulu described the news of the king being unwell as an “orchestrated agenda” to bring the king’s fitness into question. This ruffled the feathers of IFP leaders who accused Africa of dividing the kingdom and undermining Buthelezi.
Buthelezi did not respond to the allegations.
There were then conflicting reports which noted that Misuzulu was not getting ready to wield the axe on Buthelezi.
The media reports claimed that the king could no longer work with Buthelezi and he had decided to show him the door.
But those reports have since been disputed as aere fallacy.
“This is the work of dark forces aimed at sowing seeds of divisions and to create an environment of mistrust. Such baseless, reckless and fake posts must be rejected by all peace loving people. The king distances himself from such malicious posts,” his office said.
In the statement, the king noted that Buthelezi still had an integral role to play now and in the future.
Could this be a sign that they have patched theor differences?
