Following today’s chaotic Azimio demonstrations in Nairobi, President William Ruto broke his silence. The reason for the president’s two-day visit is that he has made it clear that his government wants to partner with Brazaville in matters of trade and investment.
The president has not been bothered by the protests and has instead concentrated on his duties.
Threats from Azimio against the government have been dismissed by President Ruto on several occasions, and he won’t be deterred. The president is adamant that trade and development, not sideshows, should be Kenya’s top priorities.
At a time when Azimio leaders have announced plans to depose President Ruto, he is currently traveling outside of Kenya. Ruto’s actions are the most blatant evidence that the threats made by Raila and his group do not actually cause him to lose sleep.
The country’s visiting deputy president, Rigathi Gachagua, is taking care of Azimio as best he can.
As Raila admitted today, he has made it extremely difficult for Azimio leaders to enter the city today.
