In a shocking revelation, South African Afro-pop sensation Kelly Khumalo has detailed to the police harrowing incidents of domestic violence and alleged rape involving her ex-boyfriend and the father of her child, Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye. These disturbing events are reported to have occurred more than a decade ago.
Khumalo, who fell pregnant with Maarohanye’s son in 2009 and subsequently moved in with the popular TV presenter in 2010, provided a chilling account of the incidents. The first incident reportedly took place when Maarohanye was released on bail after a tragic accident in Soweto that claimed the lives of several schoolchildren. While visiting friends in Rivonia, an argument between the couple escalated. Khumalo claims that the rapper pushed her against a wall and strangled her, all while she was eight months pregnant. Following the altercation, she began experiencing severe abdominal pains, necessitating treatment at the Sandton Clinic.
A second incident allegedly unfolded when Maarohanye came to pick up Khumalo after a filming session for Rhythm City in June 2010. According to Khumalo’s account, the rapper found her outside the studio with co-actors and accused her of having an affair with one of them. Upon returning to their residence, Maarohanye allegedly slapped her, as confirmed by a police official.
Despite the traumatic experiences, the rapper later apologized, and Khumalo forgave him, primarily for the sake of their newborn child.
