A crime spree that played out earlier this week; ended in tears for a robber from Mpumalanga; who succumbed to his injuries in hospital; after he accidentally shot himself on the leg.

According to the spokesperson for the SAPS in Mpumalanga; Brigadier Selvy Mohlala; the deceased was part of a gang of assailants who went on a rampage while committing a business robbery and broke into several homes on a plot in Vosman; in Mpumalanga.

Mohlala revealed that the gang of thugs demanded cash and stole a white VW Jetta vehicle as well as a safe which had a firearm inside.

Mohlala said the gang shot and killed the car owner; following him untying himself during the robbery.

The deceased thug shot himself while reaching out for a wallet in the stolen vehicle; he accidentally shot himself in the leg.

However; that was the least of his problems; his accomplices allegedly drove off; leaving him behind while he bled profusely.

The injured assailant was later rushed to hospital; where he succumbed to his injuries. Truly proving that there is no honour among thieves

Mohlala said; the stolen vehicle was later recovered after the victims of a burglary chased after the robbers; who in turn chose to abandon the vehicle; but escaped with the safe and firearm.

The police in Vosman; are investigating the incident; while the assailants who evaded capture are still at large.

The police have dispatched a manhunt for the perpertrators; who must be brought to book. They have urged the public to come forward with any information that can lead to the arrest of the perpetrators by calling the Crime Stop number; 0860 10111.
