The African National Congress Secretary-General, Fikile Mbalula visited to Lily Mine on Tuesday, 1st of May 2023.
The African National Congress Secretary General Fikile Mbalula promised that in next three months they will make sure that there will be a solution of ensuring that this mine is opened.
It’s been seven years since Lily Mine in Mpumalanga collapsed and trapped a container underground. At the time, three employees, Pretty Nkambule, Yvonne Mnisi and Solomon Nyirenda were inside the container.
Now the ActionSA is exposing the African National Congress Secretary General Fikile Mbalula of lying to Lily Mine’s victims.
” Fikile Mbalula misled the families of the Lily Mine victims by promising to retrieve the miners’ remains within three months in May. Since then, there has been no progress, and instead, ongoing legal battles have hindered the recovery efforts.”, says ActionSA.
The families of the three miners who died ask that the ANC government urgently keeps to the promises made to them and take tangible steps to help the families retrieve their bodies to give them a dignified burial.
