The deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has waded into the succession of president William Ruto debate. He is clear that, the former president Jomo Kenyatta entrusted government with the people of Nyeri County and the same should happen with president William Ruto when he exits office.
Gachagua remarks comes amidst remarks by the Kakamega Senator Bonnie Khalwale that, the president has promised to support Western Kenya after the end of his tenure. The people of Mt Kenya region are concerned that, they might not be part of the succession matrix.

The deputy President Rigathi has urged the president to ensure that issues governance especially on critical institutions are given to the people of Nyeri. He is clear that, the integrity of the people of Nyeri County is able board and that’s why they should be trusted.
Gachagua and Musalia Mudavadi are engaged in vicious sucession battles and the president seems to prefer Mudavadi. This comes from the fact that, the president has been sending Mudavadi abroad to represent him as opposed to Gachagua who is his Principal assistant.
