Why Gachagua Met Ukambani Leaders At Night Just After Kalonzo Was Named As Azimio Lead Negotiator

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Monday night held a meeting with a section of Ukambani leaders barely hours after Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka was appointed to lead Azimio team in bi-partisan talks with President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza.

The meeting between Gachagua and professionals from Kitui county was held at the Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi.

Taking to Facebook, the DP disclosed that they discussed at length, priority projects including improving road networks, enhancing access to safe and clean water for domestic and commercial use, exploitation of natural resources in the county, among others for the benefit of the People of Kitui County and the Lower Eastern Region at large.f3f8696bec0649dc8f26236725629b69?quality=uhq&resize=720

“We agreed to strategically work together up to the grassroots. The Ruto Administration will continue unifying our people, seeking collaboration and partnership in building alliances with experts, thought leaders and technocrats for the benefit of the people. Nobody will be left behind in our development agenda,” the DP posted.

The meeting between Gachagua and Kitui leaders came just after Kalonzo, the political kingpin of Ukambani, was appointed to lead a five member delegation of Azimio that will engage in dialogue with their counterparts from the Ruto’s camp.

In addition to Kalonzo, other leaders forming Azimio delegation are DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa, Nyamira Senator Okongo Omogeni, Minority Leader in the National Assembly Opiyo Wandayi, and Malindi MP Amina Mnyanzi.
