What Ruto is Allegedly Doing While Claiming to be Pushing For Opposition Leader’s Position

President William Ruto’s indications that he wants a strong and official opposition in place are misleading, Nominated Member of Parliament John Mbadi says.

Ruto has repeatedly said that the country needs a strong opposition, with the creation of such being among his proposals in the ongoing talks between his Kenya Kwanza and Azimio La Umoja.

But Mbadi, a member of the opposition, says that the same Ruto is at the same time busy at work to cripple the opposition, making his intentions suspicious.

The ODM National Chairman says that by embracing ODM and other Azimio leaders who are joining Kenya Kwanza, Ruto is making it clear that he is not being sincere in his demand for a vibrant opposition.

He has also bashed those joining Ruto, claiming that the law demands that they resign and vie for their current positions afresh.

“Even in ODM which has never given any indication that we want to be part of Kenya Kwanza, there are members of ODM who are for all intent and purpose now members of Kenya Kwanza. They vote with Kenya Kwanza and speak with Kenya Kwanza. The best thing to do is to go and seek a fresh mandate. My own MP is associating with Kenya Kwanza. He has never sought the opinion of the electorate,” added the parliamentarian.

He stated that contrary to their claims that they are joining the government for the sake of development for their people, this is not the case.

Mbadi has cited Suba South his (Suba South) MP Caroli Omondi, one of the defectors, whom he says has never bothered to consult his constituents on his movement.
