Azimio member of Parliament, Robert Mbui, has castigated the Kenya Kwanza government for allegedly going against a court order. While delivering his speech during an event, MP Mbui noted that the move by EPRA to increase prices of fuel is an indication that the government allegedly doesn’t obey court orders.
“Even after the court imeamua hio bill isimamishwe bado watu wa EPRA wameongeza 16% VAT. Hio inamaanisha tuko na Serikali ya majambazi (Even after the court decided to stop the bill, people from EPRA increased the fuel VAT by 16%. That means we have a government of thugs).” the Azimio MP said amid cheers from the crowd.
MP Mbui went on to praise the Busia senator, Okiya Omtatah for successfully managing to stop the implementation of the 2023 finance bill by petitioning the bill in the court.
Meanwhile, MP Mbui’s speech comes just a day after EPRA released new prices of fuel products. The move by EPRA contradicts a High court ruling that stopped implementation of the 2023 finance act pending Senator Omtatah’s petition on the finance act.
