The issue of Finland Scholarship Scandal in Uasin Gishu County has continued to elicit a mixed reaction online. This is after uproars from the victims who are young students that had seen their parents investment much in the project where they had sold their peaces of land and their house holds to get finances that would have seen their children acquire the education.
However, after a long wait, it emerged that the whole thing was a scam and they started demanding for the refund. It resulted to blame game between the current governor his excellency Jonathan Bii and the former Governor who is the current senator hon Jackson Mandago.
In a series of heated debates, the victims have come out publicly to lecture the two leaders to refund their money. Many leaders and the general public have come out to sympathize with the victims after they narrated the odeal. “My parents sold a peace of land, out tractor and also organized a fundraising where community members helped us to raise the balance” one of the victim alleges.
They now want the government to Intervene and see that they get justice after long wait. They want the former regime of governor Jackson Mandago and the current regime to be held accountable. Amongst the students that were highly affected are those that were aspiring to do nursing causes outside since it has a serious demand at the moment in various parts of the country and the world at large.
In reaction, Azimio coalition allied lawyer Ndegwa Njiru has come out to react over the same issue. According to the flamboyant lawyer, we are in a society where the big fish feeds on small fish. He maintained that what we are witnessing in Uasin Gishu is what we term as hyena eating its own cub.
