Raila Calls Out Diplomatic Communities in Kenya For Being Mum About Ruto’s Government

The Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has raised his concerns following silence from the diplomatic communities in Kenya over alleged police brutality and profiling of communities in the country.

Speaking on Friday in Bondo, Siaya County during a requiem mass of alleged police brutality victims, Raila claimed that the opposition is saddened that the diplomatic and international communities are silent over moves by President William Ruto’s government.

“They are now profiling a single community, the Luos, and we want the international community to take note of what is happening in this country. Mr Ruto is congratulating the police yet our people have been killed.”

“We want the international community to stand with Kenya. We are saddened to see that the diplomatic communities residents in Kenya are silent when the fundamental rights of Kenyans are being violated by this regime. We want them to come out strong on this issue,” said the ODM leader.

At the same time, he poked holes on the recent visit by the International Criminal Court Karim Khan in to the country, claiming that Khan met President Ruto at State House, and it was conflict of interest since it came when the opposition were collecting evidence to forward to the Hague-based court against Ruto’s government on police brutality.

Few days after Raila said he would led the opposition in going back to the streets should the Azimio-Kenya Kwanza talks fail, he has argued that he can direct people to stay at home as another way to show displeasure with Ruto’s government.

A number of the leaders who spoke during the event criticized Ruto and the Inspector of police Japhet Koome, reaffirming that they will not be intimidated to make their voices heard.
