Many Africans and African countries have been largely affected both directly and indirectly by the war between Russia and Ukraine which has now lasted for more than one and half years. Due to the vast effects of the war in Africa, president Ramaphosa together with other selected African heads of state representatives took the initiative to go and make peace between Ukraine and Russia which to date has not yielded any fruit only for Africans to face humiliation.
According to the Ukrainian president’s advisor, Mikhail Podolyak, African leaders have got no capability or what it takes to stop or resolve the war but they are there for political gains. This statement from Mikhail was not taken easy by some of the African representatives and shows that Africans are disregarded when it comes to world decision-making. This statement has also sparked a lot of reaction from many people including South African President Ramaphosa which made him make a fearless statement against Veto powers and the Western regime.
Out of reaction, president Ramaphosa said that for them as Africans taking initiation to create peace between two countries was not a begging mission. He further said that Africans have been affected by the war which has caused hiking prices of commodities in Africa. The war between Russia and Ukraine should stop allowing grains and fertilizers to come to market. He further assured the world that Africans are not for generosity from the West but that also need to be recognized on the world stage. Africa has grown its wings and should be recognized both politically and economically and be considered in all world decision-making.
