Some few Kenyan leaders were once actors before venturing into the political arena.
A sample of them include Sabina chege Jalang’o and Alfred Mutua.
1.Sabina Chege
Before being the Murang’a woman representative for 10 years Sabina Chege was an actor in a popular TV station.
Sabina Chege was cast as Rehema in the popular television Kiswahili soap opera, Tausi, that aired on KBC TV.
She acted alongside Dr Kuria, now Dr Tom Olali, a Kiswahili scholar at the University of Nairobi, where she was then a student with fellow thespian Ashina Kibibi, the late Siti.
2. Jalang’o
Before becoming a member of parliament, Jalang’o has had to do some hustles such as acting and comedy.
His breakthrough came when he joined the acting scene and featured in the local series Papa Shirandula, which was aired on Citizen TV.
3. Alfred Mutua
The cabinet secretary and former Machakos Governor was also an actor in the past.
Mutua was a lead actor in the cobra squad series that aired on NTV for several years.
After his acting career he ventured into politics.
