Pence’s Startling Assertion: Georgia Election “Not Stolen,” Refutes Jan. 6 Overturning Charges

Former Vice President Mike Pence, in a public declaration, aligned himself with the 2020 Georgia poll workers on Wednesday, August 16, resolutely asserting that the pivotal swing state’s election “was not stolen,” a direct contradiction to the persisting claims of his former superior, Donald Trump.

Addressing an audience at the National Conference of State Legislatures in Indianapolis, Pence unequivocally stated, “The Georgia election was not stolen and I had no right to overturn the election on Jan. 6.”

His words rang with a sense of conviction, seeking to dispel the growing cloud of misinformation surrounding the election.

Trump’s contentious assertion that Pence possessed the authority to forestall the certification of the election remains unfounded.

Yet, the reverberations of this falsehood persist, stoking the fires of ire among Trump’s ardent supporters, who view Pence’s supposed inaction as a betrayal.

Pence’s resolute proclamation came just hours after a significant development in Georgia, where prosecutors unveiled indictments against the former president and 18 others.

The charges revolve around an alleged conspiracy to overturn Trump’s 2020 electoral loss.

Within the intricate folds of the indictment, a stark portrayal emerged, depicting the relentless coercion faced by some poll workers, as well as the propagation of baseless vote fraud narratives and conspiracy theories that sought to erode public confidence in the integrity of voting machines.

The rift between Pence and Trump, already sharpened by their clash for the 2024 GOP nomination, deepens as Trump vehemently denies the charges while relentlessly asserting that the 2020 election was tainted by manipulation.

In his compelling speech on Wednesday, Pence deftly referenced the endorsement of GOP Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, a prominent figure who has lent his support to the conclusion that the state’s 2020 results were accurate.

Kemp’s unequivocal stance reverberated across social media platforms, where he dismissed Trump’s claims with a succinct assertion: “For nearly three years now, anyone with evidence of fraud has failed to come forward — under oath — and prove anything in a court of law.”

Kemp, once again, emphasized the security, accessibility, and fairness of Georgia’s elections, underlining their pivotal significance for the nation’s future.

Despite Pence’s prior deviations from Trump’s narrative, his stance aligns with the majority of the 2024 Republican candidates, who have refrained from overtly criticizing Trump’s conduct or denouncing his mounting legal challenges.
