ODM Official Happy, Says What’s Starting to Happen Around Kenya Regarding Opposition Demos

Opposition demos are moving from being a Nairobi and Luo Nyanza only affair to a national thing, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Director of Communications Philip Etale has said.

He has cited yesterday’s Sabasaba day, which he says was well received across the country, with even regions that have not been taking part in anti-government protests now participating.

Etale notes that actually, other parts of the country did more than the areas famed for their dislike for the government, saying that other parts of Kenya outdid those known for their intense protests.

“Saba Saba demonstrations were held across the country. In fact, the other parts of Kenya outdid the famous Kondele,” he said in a tweet on Saturday.

Taifa Leo reports that demos happened in as far as Turkana and Kakamega, with yesterday’s bulletins reporting of protests in Kitale, Siaya, Kisumu, Machakos and Mombasa Counties.

Azimio has announced that this will be the situation going forward, and has announced another similar case on Wednesday, where it is again planning demos and protests throughout Kenya.

“On Wednesday the whole country will come to a standstill as Kenyans of all walks of life participate in massive demonstrations in every width and breadth of the country. It is going to continue until the end…there is no stopping,” National Assembly Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi said yesterday, as is quoted by Citizen Digital.

Azimio has also been seen coming up with new strategies to extend the protests past opposition areas; deploying leaders to their home areas to organise and hold protests there.

Yesterday, for instance, Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua led an anti government function in Kirinyaga, with former Laikipia governor Ndiritu Muriithi being arrested for doing the same in his county.
