Kisii County governor Simba Arati has today assured Kisii residents that the police will not use force during peaceful protests.
Arati who made an impromptu visit to Kisii-Bosongo road said that he has told the police not to interfere with peaceful and harmless protesters.
He however told them that anybody has the right to demonstrate but it should be done in a peaceful and orderly manner.
Nimeongea na Askari kama maandamano ni ya amani, hakuna askari atakuguza.” He said.
His remarks have been welcomed by majority of the residents who attended the rally.
Previously, section of Kenyans and Azimio leaders have criticized the police over killings during protests.

The County boss also assured his people that he will ensure security is restored in the region particularly in Kisii town where violence has been witnessed recently.
He Warned that anyone who plans to cause mayhem will not be spared.
He was also accampanied by some leaders from the region.
